After graduating just a few short months ago, Dylan Box is an ambitious young designer and entrepreneur who is already getting his work out in the world. Last spring he graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree from the school of Art&Design where he developed a passion, and talent, for working with, and designing for, communities. Seeing an opportunity to make an impact in the nearby city of Detroit, Dylan decided to take his career in his own hands and started up a new design collective: Wedge.

Through Wedge Dylan has had the opportunities to work with clients, as well as create a large-scale project in the city. In the late summer Dylan and the rest of Wedge joined forces with partnering organizations, and volunteers, to create the world’s largest hopscotch course. Through creating a support network, and depending on Google tools such as GoogleDocs (now Drive), Google Hangouts, and Google Calendar, Hopscotch Detroit went from a little idea to an incredible large-scale event that required a ton of support and teamwork. It’s this project that really showed Dylan the strong and supportive network of people that exist in Detroit.

While all conferences and events are educational, and exciting, BrandCamp has especially piqued Dylan’s interest. The speaker lineup itself is outstanding, and the topics seem to be particularly applicable to his life. One specific panel that Dylan is looking forward to is the afternoon panel titled Social Ventures and Entrepreneurship: Balancing Profit and Purpose. Additionally he looks forward to the talk about creativity and innovation from Louis Richardson (IBM Social) and of course hearing about personal branding from the BrandCampU creator himself, Hajj Flemings. Dylan hopes to learn more about how to effectively grow his business, personal brand, and create an impact in the community while doing it.
